UNESCO Creative Cities Network

UNESCO Creative Cities Network

Established in 2004, the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) brings together cities that recognise creativity as a strategic driver of sustainable urban development. Today, the network comprises 408 cities across the world, all committed to placing creativity and cultural industries at the heart of local development while fostering international collaboration.
The Network spans eight creative fields: Crafts & Folk Art, Design, Film, Gastronomy, Literature, Media Arts, Music, and Architecture. While each city is designated in one creative field, all members collaborate across disciplines to share knowledge, strengthen cultural exchange, and promote innovation.
As a key partner of UNESCO, the UCCN serves not only as a platform for dialogue and knowledge sharing, but also as a catalyst for innovation and action. Through collaboration across disciplines and borders, member cities contribute to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, demonstrating how culture and creativity can shape more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable communities.
