Teaching Methods

The Academy provides practice-oriented education covering storytelling across multiple media and genres.
Students develop writing skills, creative thinking, research and analytical abilities, and an understanding of genre conventions through workshops and project-based learning. The Foundation Program introduces both fictional and non-fictional storytelling, while the Advanced Program focuses on genre-specific analysis and original creative work.

Learning methods include:

  • Individual mentoring
  • Group projects and collaborative writing
  • Peer critiques and workshops
  • Special lectures and mentoring sessions
  • Attendance at performances and engagement with recommended reading materials

Each student is required to submit at least one work to a recognized national storytelling competition during the program. The Storytelling Workshop and Graduation Project courses include dedicated sessions that guide students through the submission process.

Students complete an original graduation project, which is evaluated according to the standards of their chosen genre. Outstanding works are encouraged to be presented publicly, and graduates are offered opportunities to participate in Bucheon's cultural and creative initiatives after completing the program.
