Digital Detox: Book Talk, Not KakaoTalk

Digital Detox: Book Talk, Not KakaoTalk is an outdoor reading program that invites participants to put aside their smartphones and spend one uninterrupted hour immersed in reading.

Inspired by Page Against the Machine, a collaborative initiative led by Norwich UNESCO City of Literature within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, the program encourages people to take a break from digital distractions and rediscover the joy of reading and quiet reflection.
Bucheon has participated in the initiative since 2023 under the title Digital Detox: Book Talk, Not KakaoTalk. In partnership with the Bucheon Municipal Library, the program is presented as part of a variety of reading and literary events, including the Bucheon Book Festival and Library Outdoors, offering citizens meaningful opportunities to reconnect with books, nature, and one another.
