Creative Cities are cities that promote cultural industries based on their unique traits, cultural assets and creativity, promote inter-city cooperation and share the vision of urban development that is sustainable in economic, social and cultural terms. Bucheon joined UCCN in 2017 as the first Creative City of Literature in East Asia. The Bucheon UNESCO Creative City of Literature has set “The Power of Literature to Change Your Life” as its motto. Bucheon is engaged in a number of literature projects, including the Bucheon Diaspora Literary Award(BUDILIA), in order to promote civic growth through literature and creativity and pursue sustainable urban growth with a focus on peace and respect for human rights.
